Surprise Everyone! I'm back! I have been completely out of commission for some time - sorry about that - life is crazy right now. But I just had to get back into the swing of things and make some cards for the latest Colour Create Challenge.

For this latest challenge, Karen has chosen an awesome colour palette - burnt orange, cream, and black. Here is the inspiration photo:

I just love all of these stamp sets from Papertrey Ink! The sets are all listed below. I stamped in PTI Terra Cotta and True Black Ink.

I just have to add the glass beads to the little bows!

For this second card, I stamped the music background in black on the outside of the swirly frame and in Smokey Shadow on the inside of the frame.

I fired up the Cricut machine for all of the images. And I just love those plain Prima flowers that I can stamp with any pattern I want!

Colour Create Pastel Challenge

For this challenge, I made a paper flower bouquet for a friend who recently had twin boys:

I had so much fun making this bouquet! I used pastel blue and yellow and some khaki for the flowers. I added a button to each flower and also to the decorative circles on the pail.

As a final detail, I added some tiny little butterflies randomly.

I just love Super Sketchy Sunday over at 365 Cards. Here is the sketch for this week:

I just happened to need a Thank You card, and thought I would use this sketch. Ok - this may be kind of a loose interpretation of the sketch but here goes:

I used all Papertrey Ink supplies for this card - you can get the details below. Here is a close up of the bow:

Someday I will show all of you how to "tie" these bows. They really are easy, and they turn out great every time! This bluish color is PTI Ocean Tides - I just LOVE this color!

I also decorated the inside of this card for a gentleman at work who recently helped me out. He totally went above and beyond, and I was so thankful!

I loved the colors over at the Play Date Cafe this week:

So pretty! I made 2 cards with these colors. Here is the first:

I hand-stitched the stem and the background flower, and I crocheted the darker purple flower. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink Signature Greetings, stamped in PTI Plum Pudding ink. Here is a close-up picture:

For the second card, I used the colors from the Play Date Cafe along with the sketch from Card Patterns:

I decided to sew another flower for this card, but not include the crocheted flower on top. Here is a close-up of the flower. I added the gems to the center for some bling.

The patterned strips of paper at the bottom are all K&Company. I added some twine with glass beads.

I made this card with a friend in mind - I thought the sentiment was so beautiful. Incidentally, I am submitting this card to the Just Us Girls sketch challenge this week as well. Here is the sketch:

I used the iTop for the brads on the left side. I stamped the cardstock for the brads as well as the flowers with the Papertrey Ink Background Basics Text Style stamp. And I added some little gems to the center of the flowers cause I gotta have my bling!

The second card is a simple little birthday card.

I am so pleased with the simple elegance of this card! The stars and sentiment are from the Papertrey Ink Star Prints set. The swirls are from Papertrey Ink Fancy Flourishes. Below is a close-up of the stars. They have the most amazing details. I stamped the stars with a clear embossing ink and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I stamped the swirls in a silver pigment ink and then heat embossed with silver embossing powder.

On to my cards...

For this first card, I decided to try a resist technique that Nichole Heady demo'd on her blog last week. I can't decide if I like this card or not.

I stamped the background words in chocolate ink, and then I stamped the flowers and leaves with clear in and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I inked around the flowers and leaves with raspberry and red ink.

I really like this next card... Just a fun little valentine.

The background dots are a Stampin Up stamp stamped in pink and heat embossed with some glittery embossing powder.

I had the chipboard brackets in a stash - just added some pink stickles. And I cut the letter "U" with a sizzix die, and added some little gems. The felt heart was also in my stash.

I used the Nestabilities Labels One dies and sewed some ribbon ruffle at the bottom.

Nichole Heady from Papertrey Ink is having a contest over at her blog Capture the Moment. I am a total sucker for ANYTHING Papertrey Ink, so I had to play along! The challenge is to use a Resist Technique which Nichole demonstrates in a video.

Here is my submission:

First I stamped the word background in PTI Dark Chocolate. Then I stamped a leaf stamp in clear ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Finally I inked around the leaf pattern with PTI Ocean Tides ink. I sewed around the edge and added some little gems for a final detail.

Here is my take:

For the stamped image, I used the Papertrey Ink (PTI) Blooming Button Bits set. I embossed the bottom half with the Cuttlebug Spots and Dots folder, and I stamped a polka dot background at the top using PTI Background Basics Retro set.

New Baby Shower Invitations

Well I am making baby shower invitations, lots and lots of them! They are perfect for the "Matching Set" challenge over at Cupcake Crafts Challenges and the ribbon challenge over at Die Cuts R Us.

I am so excited about these invitations. They are for my sister's baby shower, and this is my first little nephew! I made the invitations in orange and blue for the University of Illinois colors, which is my brother-in-laws favorite team.

I couldn't find a nice patterned paper in the right colors, so I printed the blue stars on orange paper. The star pattern in from Pink Petticoat.

I used the iTop for the big brad on the actual invitation. And that fabulous font is Albemarle and Albemarle Swash - I just love it!

I wrapped the decorative band with some orange ribbon, and then tied another fancy bow, and I just had to add the little glass beads to the orange twine. I am fussy about the seams, so the seam is actually hidden under the bow, so the back of the invitation doesn't look messy at all.

Here is a picture of a pile of the invitations. I am about 1/2 way there and hoping to finish in the next few days.

It's that time again - Colour Create Time! Jo picked our colours this week, and they are soooo pretty - pink, blue, silver, and white.

Kraft, Blue, and White...

On to my cards:

I have been making lots of Valentines lately, but not using the traditional red and pink colours. For this card, I used the new Tiny Treats: Valentine set from Papertrey Ink. That set contains the cutest little images and sentiments! Stay Tuned because I am working on my kids Valentines for school and I am using that same set for those! I will post those in a couple of weeks.

Anyway, here is a close-up of the little boat image. I sewed the little ruffle so that the thread would look like waves - well that was my intent anyway - ha ha! I am going to enter this card into the Just Us Girls Challenge as well, where the challenge is to use sewing on your project.

Up next, a tribute to one of my favorite beverages... Coffee! Well, I guess this card could apply to tea or latte's or espresso....

I had all kinds of ideas for this card - and it started out completely differently! Then I found this little sentiment on the Cricut Graphically Speaking cartridge, and I just had to use it!

I stamped the little circles with the Papertrey Ink Background Basics Retro set. I inked all of the edges with PTI Dark Chocolate ink.

New Valentine

I just love this sketch from Caardvarks that I just had to play again.

Here is my submission:

I bought these felt hearts last year on clearance, and almost forgot about them. I layered the hearts with a heart shaped button.

Happy Birthday Card

Ok I just wanted to make a girly card, and what do you know, Cupcake Crafts is having a Girly Challenge! I am pairing that challenge with the current Pink Elephant challenge, which is "Birthdays". And I used the sketch at Caardvarks, which is shown below:

I love love love Papertrey Ink Berry Sorbet! Love it! The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink Say It With Style set, stamped in Berry Sorbet. I am not a very good stamper, but Papertrey stamps are absolutely awesome! They stamp perfectly everytime!

Here is a closeup of the gorgeous Amy Butler paper in the background along with the other embellishments. I used the Nestabilities Flower 1 dies for the little yellow flowers.

I decided to give the challenge over at the Play Date Cafe a go this week. I also decided to participate in the challenge over at Cricut Cards where the theme is Thank You cards.

Here are the Play Date Cafe colors:

Wow - these colors were tough this week! Here is my card:

The sentiment is from the Cricut Sweethearts cartridge, the leaves are from Stretch you Imagination, and the scalloped frame in the background is from the Storybook cartridge.

I made the flower using scalloped circles cut out of tissue paper with the Nestabilities dies. I stamped the tissue paper circles with random stamps using gold and silver ink. I also sewed around the perimeter of the card with silver thread.

Finally I inked the edges of the sentiment with gold ink.

3 challenges today - Just Us Girls is having a challenge to use stitching on a project; the ABC Challenge this week is "L" for layering; and it is Super Sketchy Sunday over at 365 Cards!

Here is the sketch:

Wow - this was a tough sketch for me! The square on the side reminded me of a belt buckle, or some kind of lock, and the next thing I knew, I was looking for a key on one of the Cricut cartridges, and it blossomed from there.

The shapes are all from the Cricut Indie Art cartridge. You can hardly tell, but I embossed the background paper with a Sizzix heart plate.

I printed the sentiment on my computer using a font called "Hole-hearted".

Just a Note

So what do you think of that card?? A little wild huh? I am really not sure if I like it or not, but I know my daughter will love it! So I am going to just sneak it into her backpack on Monday with a little note inside.

I am submitting the card to 3 challenges this week:
Just Buggin Challenge: stamp on your project.
Creative Belli Challenge: Use glitter or rhinestones
Die Cuts R Us: Use the colors in the DCRU logo shown to the right

For this card, I started with a white base, and I stamped a music background in various colors - aqua, pink, and green. If you click on the picture, you should be able to see that background a little better.

I cut that fancy frame from the Cricut Storybook cartridge. I also cut some smaller images of the blacked out frame for the center of the card. I stamped that music background again on the white frame shape, and I heat embossed with some glittery embossing powder.

For the sentiment, I used the new program "Make the Cut". That is a program to use to cut shapes on the Cricut machine without using any Cricut cartridges. It is so easy to use and you can cut any true type font, or svg file. I think you can also import other types of files as well, but I haven't played with that feature enough.

This is a closeup picture to show the sentiment and the backgrounds in more detail. For Christmas, my Mom gave me a huge container of Prima Flowers, and I used a bunch of those layered in the top right corner.

Finally I added some gems for sparkle!

I decided to try my hand at the new Embellish hearts challenge this week. Here is the inspiration photo:

I have a heck of a time taking photos of white cards, and just when I thought I had gotten used to my new camera, I realized maybe not so much.

I stitched around the perimeter and distressed the edges slightly. The hearts are from the George cartridge, and the sentiment is from the Papertrey Ink Say It With Style set.

I colored in the sentiment and added some little gems underneath for some extra bling!

Hi Everyone! I am finally feeling back to normal, after about 2 weeks of fighting a bug. I was so excited to spend some time in my craft room yesterday making a couple of cards.

First up, I decided to participate in The Play Date Cafe challenge. Here are the colors:

I really felt like making something not related to winter or the holidays! Plus I hadn't played with the new Blooming Button Bits set from Papertrey Ink.

The picture above shows some of the images from that set. I added some extra buttons and gems for some sparkle.

This bow is a little over the top!

The next challenge I tackled was the current challenge over at Mojo Monday:

My Mom gave me all kinds of Papertrey Ink goodies for Christmas, and I just had to get them out!

These buttons are PTI Spring Moss. I have had that ink for awhile, but hadn't gotten the buttons yet - Thanks Mom!

And she gave me the Vintage Labels stamp set. These stamps coordinate with the Nestabilities Labels one set perfectly! The flower in the corner is made up of a few plain Prima flowers that I stamped with one of the little images from the Vintage Labels set. And I used the iTop with the background paper for the big brad in the middle.

I was visiting blogs this morning, and Louise over at With a Personal Touch gave me a great idea! Louise chose her favorite creation of 2009, and I thought I would do the same. Chipboard Books
I started off this year making a few word books, and then a couple of dear friends at work had babies this year, and so I decided to make them each a special baby book. These books take quite a bit of time, but they are just so cute when they are finished.

Acrylic Books
I found the cutest little acrylic tag albums at Pat Catans. So I tried my hand at putting a couple of these together. These little albums are great because they go together very quickly, and they are perfect for smaller photos.

Cards
I spent a lot of time making cards this year (actually too much time!). These were my favorite cards of the year. If you click on the card, you will go to the original post (if there was one).

I am sorry I don't have a lot to show today. We came down with a nasty bug that lasted up to Christmas day. And then we were traveling to visit my family for the holiday. I managed to squeak out some little Valentines.

These are just little 3" cards that a decorated. Those little stamps are from the Papertrey Ink Tiny Treats set. There are alot of cute stamps from that set that I am hoping to use for my kids Valentines this year, so please stay tuned.

Hi everyone! I have really been out of commission the last week or so. I actually made this card last week, but never got around to posting it. We needed a quick card for my son's teacher at school and so I used the colors from the Play Date Cafe. I know this post is late, but I am linking back to the challenge anyway because I just loves these colors!

I used the Cuttlebug Victoria folder to emboss the bottom of the tan cardstock. I added some gold pigment ink to the folder, and then I heat embossed with glittery embossing powder so it would give that sparkly effect

Burgundy, Pink, and Cream

Colour Create Time again! Seems like the last challenge just started, and we are already on to a new one. The colours this week were chosen by the lovely and talented Dena - Burgundy, Pink, and Cream.

And, here is my card:

I found this cute little set of Hero Arts stamps that included 2 little Asian dolls and one stamp that was a thank you message. So I used the thank you stamp with Papertey Ink Scarlet Jewel ink and made a background on a piece of pink cardstock - you can see the thank you messages peaking through the spaces on the burgundy paper. I also stamped the flowers with the same background.

For the doll, flowers, and burgundy background, I used images from the Cricut Pagoda cartridge. I welded the bamboo screen image to a frame. The screen image had all of the spaces that I wanted so that the thank you messages would show through

The "thanks so much" sentiment is from Papertrey Ink Mega Mixed Messages, also stamped in Scarlet Jewel ink. I inked all of the edges with Scarlet Jewel as well. And I added the fancy little jewel embellishments to the flowers.

I have been wanting to participate in the Embellish Magazine Color challenge, and I am finally able to do so. Check out this inspiration picture:

I just loved this color combo! I haven't used yellow in awhile, and it is so nice and cheerful, so I just had to find the time! I also used the sketch from Papertake Weekly:

Here is my entry:

I printed the sentiment on cream cardstock with my computer. The fancy font is Freebooter Script and the block style font is Californian. I embossed the kraft cardstock with the Cuttlebug Victoria folder.

I added a ribbon ruffle at the bottom. I found this fancy ribbon some time ago, and just never had an occasion to use it. I also used the Fiskars Apron Lace punch at the bottom. In addition to various snowflake stamps, I used the Guidelines Two images for some of the snowflakes on the cream cardstock with the sentiment. I sprinkled some sparkly embossing powder on the stamped snowflakes and heat embossed for a little sparkle. But I love sparkle, so it really needed the little gems too!

My favorite little tool these days is the iTop - I can make brads to match anything! For these brads, I stamped one of the images from the Papertrey Ink Guidelines 2 set using Dark Chocolate ink on aqua cardstock.

Good Morning everyone! I am so excited because I played in my craft room last night, and my main goal was to create a card for a few challenges, and I am happy to report that I succeeded! The challenges are:

Cute Card Thursday: Use beads

Cupcake Craft Challenges: Create a 5x5 birthday card

SPCC: Use the colors shown to the right

I have been wanting to participate in the SPCC challenges for awhile, and I was finally able to find the time. Now honestly when I saw these colors, I really didn't know what to do - these colors are definitely a challenge!

Here is my submission:

The background papers are all Pink Petticoat, though I modified the colors slightly so they included the colors for the challenge. I use Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2, and I copied the colors from Samantha's inspiration photo, then I use the "flood fill" option to modify the colors.

The first 2 lines of the sentiment are from the Clear Dollar Stamps Deer Hunting Set. I used the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Papertrey Ink Sign Language set because the Happy Birthday sentiment in the Deer Hunting set is a little bit too hard to read.

The deer and the trees are from the Cricut Camp Out cartridge.

I played in the craft room for a little while this afternoon, and I made a card for 4 challenges:

Here is my card:

I started with a die cut circle, and I adhered all of the pink buttons around the perimeter. Then I added the chipboard letters. I adhered this circle with foam tape for some dimension. The flourish is from a Clear Dollar stamp set, Elegant Flourishes.

I added some Stickles to the letters for some sparkle. I also added some little pink gems to the flourish and some green hemp cord with glass beads.

So sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I have just been busy and unable to get into the craft room. I am hoping to be able to spend some time in there this week. I wasted oodles of time yesterday making a card for two challenges. Here are the challenges:

I decided to go for something that was not Christmas related. I have this pretty Any Butler paper that I used in the background - the pattern is pretty and has so many great colors in it.

I welded the frame with the flowers and leaf in the background, and I raised the welded frame with some dimensional tape. Then I added layers to the labybug for some more dimension.

I made some brads with the iTop - I used a section of the Amy Butler paper for the brads.

I am trying to get a used to a new camera, so please bear with me as I learn how to use it.

Colour Create Time

Colour Create Time! For this challenge, yours truly (me) got to choose the colours! Here they are:

Here are my cards:

Don't you just love this little image? This little cutie is from Pink Petticoat's Have An Ice Christmas set.

I coloured him on my computer using Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2. I used a small Spellbinders die set for the flower in the corner. The bottom edge was punched with a Martha Stewart border punch. I added this very huge ribbon for a final touch.

This next card was really simple. I embossed the top half with the Cuttlebug Snowflakes folder.

I cut the ornaments with the Cricut Christmas Cheer cartridge - I cut the base image and the shadow and then layered them. Then I decorated the ornaments with Stickles for some sparkle.
The sentiment is from the Papertrey Ink Winter Swirls set.

I added the white ribbon, and secured the bow with some hemp cord - I strung the ornaments on the twine before I tied the bow. Finally, I gotta add those glass beads for some sparkle.

I thought that since I did one penguin card with a digital image, I would do another penguin card using the Cricut machine. This card is very similar to one I made a few weeks ago, except for the colour scheme and instead of a penguin, I used some snowpeople.

For the background, I used some K&Company Christmas paper that had snowflakes and some sparkle on it. I ripped some white paper for the snow at the bottom. The penguin and tree are from teh Cricut Christmas Cheer cartridge.

The snowflakes and sentiment are from the Winter Woodlands cartridge.

I added stickles to the sentiment and hat. I also put dots of Stickles all over the snow for a little bit of sparkle - but I don't think it is showing up in these photos.

For this last card, I decided to just make an everyday card using the new Papertrey Ink Big and Bold Wishes set.

I used Nestabilities for the ovals for the sentiment. I also stamped some swirls above the scalloped oval. I just had to use some more of that huge ribbon

Here is my card:

Ok - I had a bright idea to sew a ruffle around this image. It didn't turn out exactly as I'd hoped, but I just didn't feel like doing it over. All of the patterned papers are from Pink Petticoat Fairy Lights set.

My favorite way to color my images is with my computer. I use all different settings - sometimes the airbrush setting, sometimes the paintbrush.

I added some hemp cord at the bottom with some glass beads for a little sparkle.

Old Country Christmas

Moxie Fab World is having an Old Country Christmas challenge. I decided to try to make a winter scene looking out of a window. Since I used so many different Cricut cuts for this card, I am also entering it into the Just Buggin Challenge #12.

The frame and the trees in the background are from the Cricut Camp Out cartridge. I thought the frame looked kind of like an old window, and I inked all over to give it a more aged appearance. I welded the trees to the shadow frame in the back. On the blue background, I stamped some snowflakes and heat embossed with some glittery embossing powder. I also added Frosted Lace Stickles to the trees and branch to look like snow.

The raised branch and the cardinal are from the Winter Woodland cartridge. and I welded the shadow branch to the raised frame. The picture above shows the dimension.

The sign at the bottom is from the Camp Out cartridge and the holly leaves and berries are from Winter Woodland. The sentiment stamps are Papertrey Ink.

A co-worker asked me to make a baby girl card this weekend. Whenever someone asks me to make a specific card, I always need to look around blog land for all of the challenges out there to get some inspiration. So I found a couple of challenges perfect for this card:

My favorite digital images are Pink Petticoat. This image is from the Pink Petticoat Sweet Cheeks set. I colored it on my computer.

The person who requested the card also requested some ruffles, so I added a ruffle in the middle.

Raspberry Suite Challenge #19

Dawn McVey posted a new challenge - Raspberry Suite #19, and I just had to give it a try! Here are the colors:

Wow- there are a lot of colors there! Here is my card:

I used Nestabilities to cut the flowers. Don't you just love buttons! These buttons are all from Papertrey Ink - they have the best assortments of buttons in all of the coordinating colors.

I had to use one of the sentiments from the new Papertrey Ink Signature Sentiments set. I stamped the sentiment with a VersaMagic Sea Breeze pigment ink, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

I stamped a text background on each of the smaller flowers. Finally added some hemp cord with glass beads.

Girly, You Rock!

Yippee! I got my package from Papertrey Ink yesterday. One of the items I ordered was the new Signature Greetings set. All of the stamps in the set are fantastic, but the main one that caught my eye was the "Girly You Rock" stamp. So I just had to use it today!

I am entering this card in 3 challenges:

I just love the skull on the Cricut Indie Art cartridge! But I modified it slightly and welded hearts in for eyes instead of the grouchy eyes that it usually has. The crown is from the Home Decor cartridge. I also welded some swirls together in the background - those were from Home Decor as well. On the black and light pink backgrounds, I embossed with the Cuttlebug Perfectly Paisley folder.

My favorite frame is this swirly frame from Storybook cartridge.

I finished off with a bow secured with some twine and beads. I got the seal of approval from my daughter - she loved this card!

Red, Green, and White

Hi everyone! It's Colour Create time! The colours for this challenge are RED, GREEN, and WHITE, and here is our inspiration photo:

Onto my cards... This first card didn't go so well for me, but I have decided to share it anyway.

I absolutely loved this Christmas tree stamp when I saw it. It is from Martha Stewart. But I could not get it to stamp cleanly. I threw away about 10 cards prior to just finally accepting this one even though I am not happy with it. If any of you have any tips for these large types of stamps with all of the details, please share them with me!

I used Scor-tape around the edge and added glitter for some sparkle.

I am much happier with this second card!

I started with a white background. I embossed the top half with the Cuttlebug Victoria folder. But before I embossed, I inked the folder with green Stampin Up ink. That technique gives a really interesting effect.

The "image" in the middle is from the Papertrey Ink Holiday Button Bits set. That set includes a bunch of images where you incorporate buttons as part of the image - pretty cool!

I used the Fiskars Apron Lace punch on the bottom and I also embossed with 2 border embossing folders from the Cuttlebug Border Frills set. Of course I had to add some twine with glass beads because I have been on a glass bead kick lately.

The sentiment stamp is also from Papertrey Ink Holiday Button Bits.

Christmas Pillow Box

Hi Everyone! Well, Liz over at Pink Petticoat is having a contest for a fabulous supply of ribbon. Here is the prize:

Doesn't that look so beautiful? Well, the contest is to make a pillow box with Pink Petticoat supplies. In case you didn't know, I luuuuuuuuuv Pink Petticoat! Love it! The images are crisp and unique; the colors are always awesome; the patterns are just fabulous; I can print just the right amount of patterned paper that I need; the list goes on and on!

So, here is my entry:

The sentiment and patterned paper are from the Pink Petticoat Fairy Lights set. The green paper I used for the box is also from Pink Petticoat Fairy Lights. I used Nestabilities to cut the sentiment, and I matted on a Nestabilities flower.

I used grosgrain ribbon for the bow. And I finished off with some twine and glass beads.

Tuesday Trigger

I couldn't pass up the Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab World this week! The colors are so pretty! Here is the inspiration photo:

Here is my card:

When I saw the inspiration picture, I immediately thought of Papertrey Ink Ocean Tides. I love that color! And I could see it paired with the gold! Anyway, I used black as the base color and I also use a little bit of black twine to secure the button and bow which are both Papertrey Ink Ocean Tides.

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink Everyday Button Bits.

The image on the circles is from Giga Guidelines. Dawn McVey used these images as flowers once, and I loved that! I added gems for some sparkle. The leaves were cut from the Cricut Storybook cartridge. I used the Martha Stewart Lace Border punch for the trim on the bottom. You can see a little bit of the Papertrey Ink Background Basics Text peaking out from behind the leaves and flowers.

I found a new challenge (well, new to me anyway) last week called the Play Date Cafe. They are having some fun color challenges over there with fabulous prizes - head on over there to check them out!

I had a lot of fun with this one! Here is my card:

Love that skull! It is from the Cricut Indie Art cartridge. There is a swirl behind the skull that is also from that cartridge. I added some red glitter glue to the tips of the cross bones. I embossed the background with the Cuttlebug Perfect Paisley folder. On the left side I added some large brads I made with the i-Top. I stamped images from the Papertrey Ink Guidelines Two set for those brads.

This sentiment is from the Papertrey Ink Mega Mixed Messages set.

I have been using a lot of glass beads on twine lately, but I think it just gives the bows a more finished look.

Anyway, I made this card for a friend who just recovered from H1N1. I thought this little pig was so appropriate! ;-)

I love this little digital stamp. It is from the Pink Petticoat Tickled Pink set. I sewed around all of the edges with a sparkly silver thread. All of the patterned papers are from Pink Petticoat as well.

I added some clear glass beads and a gems to the twine. The paper at the bottom also has vines all over it. It is also from Pink Petticoat - the pattern is called "Little Leaves" and it is in the Big Fella set. I recolored it pink so it would match the other patterns.

More Baby Shower Invitations...

Ok girls - I finally finished all of the baby shower invitations I have been working on - justin time for the Cute Card Thursday Primary Colour challenge! Here they are:

For the purists in the crowd, I am aware that orange and green are not primary colours - ha ha! But I was making a big assortment with all different bright colours.

I am so pleased with how these turned out. The little airplane is from the Cricut New Arrival cartridge.

I printed the actual invitation in either red or blue on vellum and then adhered it to white cardstock with the ATG.

Plum Crazy

Hi Everyone! I have a new card today for 3 challenges.

To me, Plum is a very elegant and chic color. And all of the inspiration photos just screamed "style" to me. So, I tried to make this card elegant, with very crisp lines and perfectly stamped images in the squares...

I also added some background stamping behind the squares. Without that background stamping there didn't seem to be enough lead-in from the squares to the ribbon - it just looked to thrown together without that...

A perfectly tied bow, secured with twine and a button. I added glass beads on the twine - I think this detail give the twine a more finished look...

A cleanly stamped sentiment... as well as some coordinating gems strategically placed in the valleys of the edging.

There is just something about this card for me. I changed my mind multiple times in the middle of creating this, but I am so happy with the result!

Winter Card Set

For this challenge, Karen has chosen the colours blue, white, and silver with optional glitter and winter. Here is our inspiration photo:

I must say, I LOVED this colour combo! So crisp looking! I decided to make a pack of cards for my sister. So, here is the first card:

For any of you who read my blog, you have seen this card before in a different colour pallette. Actually, I have used this same layout a couple of times - I just like how clean and simple it is.

I heat embossed the stamped images with some glittery embossing powder, but it really isn't showing up well in the pictures. Those little gems are such a cute little touch

Ok - for the next card (are you sitting down), I actually stamped! And I stamped A LOT! All of those snowflakes are stamped! Some of the snowflakes are from the Fanciful Flakes set from Clear Dollar Stamps. And some are from the Winter Swirls set from Papertrey Ink.

I used different colors of ink - Ocean Tides, Spring Rain, and Enchanted Evening by Papertrey Ink. I also stamped some of the snowflakes with ColorBox metallic silver pigment ink. Then I heat embossed with the Whispers holographic embossing powder. I printed the sentiment from my computer using the Freebooter Script font.

I always have to add extra bling, so I randomly added some little gems for some extra sparkle.

I decided to do the same snowflake layout on the next card, but instead of stamps, I used cut out snowflakes. I also added some embossing in the background. All of the snowflakes and the sentiment were cut from the Cricut Winter Woodland cartridge.

I added random gems for some sparkle.

I sewed a border around the edge with silver thread, and distressed the edges slightly.

This next card took forever because I just kept changing my mind on it! I really wanted to use a new stamp set I have called Holiday Button Bits from Papertrey Ink. In the end, I still am not sure if I like this card or not.

I printed out some of the music from "Joy to the World", and I used a Martha Stewart border punch on the bottom. The edges are sewn with the same silver thread.

I also embossed the background with the Cuttlebug Allegro folder - but I embossed it at an angle. I saw this on another blog, but I am not sure which one - it might have been Deanne at Three Trees. If it wasn't her, you would still have fun checking out all of her amazing work.

The sentiment on this card came from the Papertrey Ink Winter Swirls set.

I couldn't create a card set without some Pink Petticoat in it! This cute little gemmed tree came from the Pink Petticoat Fairy Lights set.

I printed the background paper from Pink Petticoat as well. The sentiment is from the Papertrey Ink Holiday Button Bits set.

I sewed some bright white ribbon on the bottom.

This last card just contains a simple little winter scene. I embossed the background with the Cuttlebug Snowflakes folder.
A fancy bow secured with a button.

The trees are from the Cricut Winter Woodland cartridge. - they are raised up with some dimensionals.

Finally I packages all of the cards in a clear box. I mentioned this a couple of weeks ago - I re-use the clear boxes that the Papertrey Ink stamp sets come in. I just couldn't bear to throw these away, and I finally found a good use for them. They fit these square cards perfectly!

I added the decorative band and the flower opposite of the box opening, so that it doesn't have to be broken to open the box.

This is a closeup of the layered flower, which was cut using Nestabilities.

Frosty Kisses

I have been looking at the sketch from Cupcake Craft Challenges for a a couple of days now, and honestly nothing was coming to me. Here is the sketch:

On the way home from soccer last night, I came up with an idea. Okay - really all of the elements are in there! Even the scallops at the bottom.

I really wanted to use the snowpeople on the Cricut Winter Woodlands cartridge.

The tree is from the Christmas Cheer cartridge. The snowflakes are from Winter Woodlands.

I added stickles to the and hat on the snow-woman just to give a little sparkle.

I also added stickles to the sentiment for some sparkle. The sentiment is from Winter Woodlands.

I propped up all of the elements with some foam adhesive for some dimension.

Baby Shower Invitations

Hi Everyone! Well I kind of lost my mojo lately! Nothing is really inspiring me. I have been working on new Colour Create cards, but that is about it - and you have to wait to see those until next Thursday.

One other project I just started is baby shower invitations for a young lady at work. Shhhh - it is a surprise! These invitations are the perfect entry for the current Papertake challenge - Spots and Stripes.

This couple knows they are having a boy, and they know they are decorating the baby's room with an airplane theme, but that is about it. They haven't chosen any colors, so I just decided to make the invitations in bright colors.

I used a tutorial from Splitcoaststampers which you can find here. Although these invitations are smaller than in the tutorial. For the actual pocket, I cut a strip of cardstock 4.75" x 12". Then I scored at 4" and 8" to make the pocket part. The inner cards are 4.0" x 4.5".

I printed the invitation on vellum and then adhered the vellum at the corners to white cardstock. Incidentally, the ATG adhesive worked perfectly for the vellum - it is virtually transparent!

I cut the airplane using the Cricut New Arrival cartridge.

The band that I slide around the invitation was cut at a 2" width.

This picture (above) shows another variation of the invitation - just different colors than the first.

I will start working on the rest of them tonight. Once they are done, I will try to remember to post another picture.

Greeting Card Gift Set

For any of you who purchase Papertrey Ink stamp sets, do you save the clear boxes the sets come in? I just cannot bring myself to throw these boxes away. It finally occurred to me that these boxes are the perfect size for a card set. I am sure everyone else has already figured this out - I am just kind of slow ;-)

So I decided to use the colors from the current Raspberry Suite Color challenge for a card set for my sister. Whenever she comes to visit, she usually takes most of the cards I have made. But I haven't seen her for some time, so I suspect she needs some new cards.

First I am going to show each of the cards, and then I will show the box all assembled at the end.

Here are the colors for the challenge:

For this second card, the sentiment was from Giga Guidelines as well.

I also just decided to get the Mega Mixed Messages set. Okay - how did I ever live without it?? It has every sentiment you could ever need! The sentiments on the next card is from that set.

I thought my sister would like a little crocheted flower card in her set. And I just love stringing glass beads onto twine for a little something extra! The sentiment on this card is also from Mega Mixed messages.

For this next card, I used Everyday Button Bits. I love that set!

Finally I thought she needed a butterfly card with some swirls and bling!

I put a decorative band and a little tag envelope on the box, and then I decorated a little tag to fit in the envelope.
I can't wait to send this to her. She will love this set!

I am way too lazy to stamp paper with a word background, so I just made some on my computer and printed it out - so much easier! In case you are curious, I used Gulliver's Travels for the words. I used Nestabilities to cut out the flowers, and I crocheted the flower with embroidery floss.

This last picture is a close up of the twine. I always like adding glass beads to the twine - it's such a pretty detail.

White on White

Colour Create Time again! This week we have a really fun challenge of White on White where the only color on the card is the image.

On to my cards...

For those of you who check out my blog regularly, you may notice that I do stamp occasionally, but I prefer digital stamps or my Cricut machine for the main image. I am just really bad at stamping, and I have never been good at colouring! So I was kind of nervous about this one. I was sketching down ideas all week. It turns out I have lots of fun things to show you!

For the first card, I decided to make a snowflake the main subject of the card.

I think I kind of broke the "rules" on this one. I stamped the background instead of the main image. I used silver pigment ink and silver embossing powder to highlight the snowflakes a little. The "snowflakes" are actually from the Cricut Home Accents cartridge. I layered with foam adhesives.

I added Frosted Lace Stickles to the edges of the snowflake which gave a bit of sparkle. Then I added a gem to the snowflake.

The sentiment (and snowflake stamps) are from the Papertrey Ink Winter Swirls set.

For the second card, I used the new Cricut Sweethearts cartridge. I just got it and had to give it a try!

The heart background, images and sentiment are all from Cricut Sweethearts.

I embossed the background with the Cuttlebug Birds and Swirls folder.

I added some ribbon and gems for the final details.

I made this next card in honor of breast cancer awareness month.

The swirled frame is from the Cricut Storybook cartridge - it is my favorite frame - all swirly! The background text paper is from the Think Pink kit from Pink Petticoat - if you click on the link, it will take you to this free download.

I cut the letters using the Cricut Storybook cartridge.

Finally, my favorite card of the bunch. I have been making a lot of cards with ruffles over the past couple of weeks. They are kind of fun to sew, and they look so pretty. So I just had to do a ruffle card!

The image is from the Pink Petticoat Happily Ever After set. I coloured (and I use this term loosely) with some un-fancy markers. I used Nestabilities for the circle and scalloped circle.

I embossed the top with the Cuttlebug D'Vine Swirls folder. Then I added irridescent Stickles for some sparkle.

I just love the ruffled ribbon! For those of you who are sick and tired of seeing ruffled ribbon on my blog, I am done now!

I finished off with a bow, secured by a button.

I am so excited! Liz over at Pink Petticoat featured some of my cards on her site. My favorite of these is Ghoulish Greetings! I am also going to enter this card in the current challenge over at Moxie Fab World - Not Your Regular Ruffles.

Ruffled Tickled Pink

There is a new ruffle challenge over at Moxie Fab World. I decided to make a card for someone I know who loves piggies. I am also going to enter this card in the Caardvarks "Take a Bow" challenge, Spoonful of Sugar Sketch Challenge, and the Creative Card Crew Scallops challenge.

This is a little over the top! I sewed the layers of ruffles with my sewing machine. The image and the patterned background paper are from Pink Petticoat. I used Nestabilities to cut the circle and the scalloped circle.

I had this beaded trim, and just had to get it in somehow!

Autumn is a second Spring

I knew that I wanted to make an Autumn card for a couple of challenges out there, but I didn't realize I would be able to use this card for 5 challenges.

I stitched around the edge with my sewing machine, and I crocheted the flower, with 3 layers (does crocheting count as stitching?). The flower and ribbon were secured with a button.

I just love this quote about autumn. I printed it from my computer. I stamped the background prior to printing the sentiment. I also stamped the same background on the main area of the card - just some random Stampology leaves. I am not a big stamper, but I am really happy with how this background turned out! I cut out the sentiment with Nestabilities.

I have had this tiny leaf punch for awhile, but haven't really used it. Those tiny leave were the perfect accent for this sentiment. And of course, I gotta have my bling - just a few little gems on the right side!

Warm Winter Wishes

Woo hoo! It is Super Sketchy Sunday over at 365 Cards! Here is the sketch for today:

Well, I just got the Cricut Winter Woodland cartridge and I had to try it out. All of trees and the sentiment were cut from that cartridge.

For the trees, I layered the main image with the shadow image. I used frosted lace stickles on the edges of the trees for snow. Also added some cord with glass beads.

I also put the stickles on the sentiment, and added buttons underneath for a final touch.

The challenge this week over at Cuttlebug Spot is "Pretty in Pink" in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

I couldn't let this go by without participating. I made this card in honor of the wife of a dear friend who recently passed away from brain cancer. Then entire time I was making this card, I thought of her and wanted to do her proud.

I know this seems like a very simple card. But to me, this card is very elegant and tasteful which is so representative of this young woman. She was so kind and vibrant, and when you met her you just felt like you had known her forever.

I spent time this afternoon playing with my Cricut and came up with a card for several challenges.

So, I really am 3-dimensional with this card. I cut the chandelier and then layered with dimensional stickers. I also popped the spiders with the dimensional stickers.

I added some white string with clear glass beads on the chandelier. This was supposed to look kind of like spider web - maybe not so much! It really did look good in my head! ha ha!

I printed the background papers from the Pink Petticoat Spooky Doodles Set - love that set! The backgounds are awesome, and the images are so adorable!

I also printed the sentiment from Pink Petticoat Spooky Doodles - isn't it so cute! I added stickles all over.

Anniversary Card

Well I was able to spend some time in my room last night playing with paper, and I decided to participate in the Papertake Weekly Challenge. This is a first for me - so please be gentle ladies! My blogger friend Nancy was recently a guest designer, which is how I found this challenge!

The challenge this week is to find inspiration from this sketch:

And here is my card:

I really need to start filling my stash with some generic cards - so I am starting with this Anniversary card. I found this stamp on clearance some time ago, and this is the first time I have had a chance to use it. I had this beautiful K&Company, Amy Butler paper that I decided to pull out.

I was really at a loss for what to put at the bottom of the card (where the text was supposed to be). Fortunately I had some embroidery floss in the right colors, so I made a few little flowers. Don't look too closely at the orange one - I ran out of floss about 3 stitches from the end, so I had to improvise a little.

I finished off with this bow - secured with a button and some cord. Of course I just had to add some glass beads on the cord - I just love that little detail.

Colour Create Time!

It's Colour Create Time - my favorite day! I love being able to share all of my projects with you for the Colour Create Challenges! Hopefully I am able to give you some inspiration.

The colours for this challenge are Red, Yellow, Black, and White, and they were chosen by Janiel. Thanks Janny - These were super fun colours to work with!

On to my projects...

For some reason, from the minute I saw these colors for the challenge, I thought of music, or a card that focused on music. So here goes:

This layout is so simple, and I have used it a few times with different images in the squares. I searched the internet for a good music quote. I added a link to a good quote site in my left sidebar under "Fun Places to Visit".

I applied yellow ink to the Cuttlebug Allegro folder before I embossed. But there seemed to be too much ink between the music lines, so I just wiped it off between the lines before I embossed - that is why there is some white space at the top and bottom if each little square of music.

Simple yellow and red grosgrain ribbon and some tiny clear gems finished this card off.

For the next card, I stamped the swirls on the background using clear embossing ink. Then I applied clear embossing powder and heat set.

I had this little crocheted flower in my stash from earlier this summer. This little flower is the perfect size for cards, and I found the pattern over at Nichole Heady's blog some time ago. It is the perfect pattern for beginners. Here is another site that has a lot of great crocheting patterns, for any of you who are interested.

The stamp set I used was the Papertrey Ink Sign Language set. For non-stampers like me (ha ha!), the Papertrey Ink sets are wonderful - they seem to produce a very crisp image. And I don't have to be very creative, because Papertrey adds a lot of different images that are interchangeable.

Finally, I made a little Pittsburgh Steelers bouquet. I don't know about you, but I am always hesitant to throw any container away. Examples - icing containers, vitamin bottles, plastic containers from luncheon meats... It just seems that these could be used for something. So they get saved (and saved and saved).

Well, the little icing containers (Don't ask why I would have an abundance of these laying around - it is my own indulgence) make perfect little flower pots for these paper bouquets.

I found the Steelers logo on line. This went together pretty simply. I used lollipop sticks from the craft store. All the letters and shapes were cut with my Cricut.

This little bouquet is the perfect size for someones desk, and I gave it to a good friend at work who is a huge Steelers Fan! She loved it!

Have fun with the challenge! I was able to make it to mist of the submissions on the last challenge, and I will do my best to get to everyone this time!

World Cardmaking Day!

Well there is a holiday for everything! My daughter has a birthday party this afternoon, and she decided she just wanted to give her friend money for her birthday. So I decided to make a fancy card for her and also to celebrate World Card Making Day!

For this card, I used the Cardpatterns sketch for inspiration:

I just loved that butterfly card from yesterday so much, that I decided to use butterflies again. But this time, I used all shades of blue because that is the birthday girl's favorite color:

This is actually a very simple card. The butterflies were cut from Cricut Stamping Solutions. I printed the sentiment on my computer using the Cheri Liney font. And the swirl stamps came from a set of stamps I got on clearance, not sure of the brand. Here are some more close-up pictures:

I used clear gems on the butterflies and also on the swirls. Every girl needs a little bling!

I decorated the inside as well. On the left side, I added a pocket for the money.

My favorite card ever!

A friend asked me to make a birthday card for him to give to someone who is very special to him. I know the recipient and she is just so wonderful, that I wanted to make something really special for her. So I was feeling extreme pressure for this one. I have been thinking about this for a couple of days and this is what I came up with:

I used the butterfly cut from the Cricut Stamping Solutions cartridge, and I embossed each butterfly with the Cuttlebug D'Vine Swirls cartridge.

I added some swirls stamped in black on the left side. I also added tiny gems to the swirls and also some gems on the butterflies.

I printed the sentiment in a font called "Angelic War". I find really cool fonts on a site called Dafont, and the link is in my left side bar under "Fun Place to Visit".

I decorated the inside to coordinate.

Now normally I would never make a card that I could not fit into an envelope, but this one will be hand-delivered, so the fact that the red butterfly is extending over the edge wasn't really a big deal.

I just love this card! It is my favorite in a long time! I can't wait to give it to my friend!

2 New Cards

Dawn McVey posted a new Raspberry Suite challenge yesterday. Here are the colors:

These colors are really amazing together! The red really adds some pop! I may have to use these again sometime!

Because I am really not that creative, I needed a sketch to go along with these, so I decided to use the Taylored Expressions sketch this week:

Here is my take:

I just love the Papertrey Ink Everyday Button Bits set. The images and sentiments are so versatile! I punched the edging with the Martha Stewart Lace Punch. That punch has become a staple that I go to often.

I added some swirls with little red gems for some extra bling!

While I had all of these pieces of cardstock out, I made a winter card as well:

This card is very similar to one I made a few weeks ago, but with a slightly different color pallet.

That little snowman is so cute! The snowman and the snowflakes on top are from the Cricut Doodlecharms cartridge.

I embossed the background with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder, and randomly added pink stickles to some of the dots for some sparkle.

The tree was cut from the Cricut Stretch Your Imagination cartridge, and the swirly pattern embossed in the top of the tree was from with the Cuttlebug Victoria folder.

The cupcakes were from the Cricut Doodlecharms cartridge. Of course I had to add some bling with the little gems on the cupcakes.

I used 3 different punches for the layered edging. The dark pink was actually a corner punch that I turned . The light pink in the middle was cut with a Fiskars punch (not sure of the name). The bottom edging was made with the Martha Stewart lace punch.

I cut the tag for the sentiment with the Cricut George cartridge. Then I added an eyelet so that I could tie the tag to the tree with some pink hemp cord. I added some pink glass beads to the cord just for an extra little detail.

At the top I used 2 large eyelets and tied a knot with pink grosgrain ribbon. I also decided to make the entire card shaped like a big tag - I love how that looks!

Some-birdie is thinking of you...

I needed a birthday card, and the Cardpatterns sketch this week was perfect! Challenge #48 over at One Stop Craft challenge is to use Die Cuts. Well I am a huge fan of die cuts, electronic cuts, any kind of cut! I opted to use my Cricut for this one - I hope that is okay since it is technically not a die cut.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

I printed the sentiment using the Riesling font, which I found here. The little tag is from the Cricut George cartridge.

The little birdies and the branches were cut using the Cricut Home Decor cartridge. If you look closely, you will also see that I stamped the cream background with a leaf pattern using embossing ink, and I heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I inked slightly to bring out the leaves.

I tied the ribbon and then secured with some hemp cord. I added the glass beads for an extra little detail.

On the inside of the card, I have the Happy Birthday sentiment.
