Chipboard Baby Books

I am finally getting around to posting a couple of baby books I made earlier this year. I had a bunch of chipboard that was too thick for the Cricut machine, so I just cut it straight for these books.

For both books, I cut the pages in the sizes I wanted. Then I adhered cardstock to both sides, rounded the corners, and sanded the edges. I also inked the edges for an aged effect. These books were also my first Bind-It-All project.

For the first book, I cut the pages 6x6. I used the All Mixed Up cartridge for the lettering on the front. I welded the letters for the name using Design Studio.

Most of the clips are from the New Arrival cartridge. The pages are all set up so that the pictures can just be added right on top. I used the stork on the back cover.
(You can click on some of the pictures to see a larger image)

For the second book, the baby's Mom likes the color burgundy, so I tried to use that alot in the book.

I cut these pages at 5x7. By using this size, I could set up the pages so that a 4x6 picture would fit with minimal trimming. I also decided to use more of the images from the New Arrival cartridge

On the Little One page, I put a pocket with a pull-out tag that has a baby poem on it. The tag was made of chipboard and covered with cardstock the same as the book pages. I also used a new Peachy Keen face stamp on the Sweet Pea page.

The only page that really disappointed me was the Bath Time page. I really like the patterned paper that I used for the title. But it ended up being really hard to read. I put some solid cardstock behind it to try to make it easier to read, and it helped a little, but I will not use that paper for lettering again.

On the Sleeping Beauty page, I added a little tag that has a bedtime prayer on it. The prayer is the one we said when we were growing up.

Mini Chipboard Album - Cuttlebug Challenges Be Inspired #31

The Be Inspired challenge this week at Cuttlebug challenges is to make a 3D project. So I took this opportunity to make a mini chipboard album for my daughter. We recently took a weekend trip to Chicago to celebrate my Mom's birthday, and this album contains all of the pictures from that trip. All of the pages are orange because that is my daughter's favorite color.

I started out with bare 12x12 chipboard sheets. I cut the chipboard into 3 x 4 pieces. Then I covered all of the pages with cardstock - some plain and some embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. I rounded the corners and sanded and inked the edges. I used my photo program to put 4 photos on a 4x6 sheet, so each photo would be 2x3 and fit on a page. This was a great tip I found at Clever Someday here.

The letters on the front cover came from the Makin' the Grade cartridge - I welded them together with Design Studio. The city landscape cut is from Plantin Schoolbook.

Here are the interior pages:

I embossed every other page with a different folder. On these page I used the swiss dots folder, and I sanded the dots and then added some random color to some of the dots.

I cut "Girls Weekend" with the Opposites Attract Cricut cartridge

I mounted the picture of the white tulips on a piece of cardstock that had been embossed with the Cuttlebug Bloom Dots folder.

I used a Martha Stewart border punch for the fancy borders on these pages.

I cut some swirl accents to put in the corners from the Home Accents cartridge. Of course, the deep dish pizza from Giordanos had to get it's own page. They just don't have good deep dish pizza like this in Pittsburgh!

The Life is Good sentiment is from the Graphically Speaking cartridge.

I used the Bind-it-All to put the book together - I really needed a bigger binding, but this will have to do. Then I added some ribbon to the binding.

Finally, I got a little white lunchbox from Pat Catans for $1, and I painted and stamped it and added some ribbon and a flower embellishment:

The book barely fits inside:

Kelsie will love this little book and the lunchbox!

Thanks for looking!

Deer Season Word Book

I am sharing some photos of a chipboard book I made for my son, Daren. This was his first deer hunting season and he LOVED it! He went to hunting camp every weekend with his Dad and he had the best time. I cut all of the pages and shapes with a Cricut Expression.

New Word Book

I made a new word book as a birthday present for my daughter's friend Piper. This book is ready for her to add her own photos.
I cut the pages out of chipboard using my Cricut Expression. Then I covered with cardstock and sanded and inked the edges.
