Hey Chick!

I decided to participate in the Cardpatterns challenge this week. Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:
The image was actually a free download from Pink Petticoat that you can get here.

I also printed the patterned papers and the background pistachio colored paper from Pink Petticoat, but those weren't part of the free download. I cut the sentiment using Nestabilities Labels dies.

I added stickles to the little chick and the gems for some sparkle.

The knot seemed plain, so I crocheted a little flower in the yellow and light green colors as a final embellishment.

Thanks for Looking!

Going Digital

Two challenges today - Mojo Monday and Whimsy Stamps - I will give the details below. First off, here is my card:

Whimsy Stamps: Fun Fall Colors - any colors that remind you of fall
Mojo Monday: Sketch to the right

I decided to try something a little different for this challenge. I absolutely LOVE Pink Petticoat digital stamps, and I have used their digital stamps before. But I have never used the background papers. So for this challenge, I printed the colored background papers (the black base is just a standard piece of Bazzill Basics cardstock). What a fantastic alternative to buying a lot of patterned papers! I may be hooked!

Don't you just love this new Halloween set? That little tree with the owl on the top is just too cute! Incidentally this set is huge - there are so many images and patterns and colors - it is just fantastic! And I really like the muted colors of the backgrounds!

I decided not to color the image - just add some halloween colored gems to the tree.

I sewed on the gathered ribbon - haven't done anything like that in awhile. And I added some little black gems in some of the swirls on the background.

Keep an eye out - I suspect I may be using more Pink Petticoat this week!

Thanks for Looking!

Just a Touch

I haven't participated in 365 Cards challenges in awhile, and decided to give it a go today. The theme at 365 Cards Day 196 is "Just a Touch". The specific challenge is to use a stamped image (ink or digi), use black on white, and just add a touch of color somewhere.

I don't have a lot of large stamp images, so this really was a challenge! But here goes:

I used the Papertrey Ink Sign Language set. It is fabulous and so versatile!

On each piece of cardstock, I stamped a background pattern from Papertrey Ink Background Basics Retro set. Then I heat embossed with clear embossing powder. That gave each pattern a shiny raised effect.

I finished off with a bow at the top made from orange and purple ribon and secured with a black button and some orange string.

Thanks for Looking!

Cute Card Thursday

The theme this week at Cute Card Thursday is "Strawberry Mint Julip", and the challenge is to use Pink and Green. The sponsor this week is Squiggle Stamps - they have the most awesome selection of stamps! Head on over to Cute Card Thursday to read more about the prize.

Anyway, here is my card:

I stamped the images with the Papertrey Ink Sign Language set. This set is awesome! It has some great little images in it! Then I used my Scor-Pal to score a box around the images. The sentiment is from the Sign Language set as well. I saw a similar layout for a Christmas Tree ornament on Becky Oehlers blog today, and I just loved it!

I fought with the bow, but am happy with how it turned out. I secured the bow with a button and some string.

I thought it looked a little plain, so I added some tiny gems on each of the images.

Thanks for Looking!

Red, White, and Blue

Hi Everyone! I have 2 more challenges to post today. I have really been on a roll this week!

Cupcake Craft Challenges is having a Red, White, and Blue challenge this week, and they are offering a fabulous prize from Simon Says Stamp! Head on over the Cupcake Crafts to check it out!

I decided to pair the Red, White, and Blue challenge with the sketch from Inspirational Card Sketches this week. Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

I am still playing with the new stamps I got from Papertrey Ink the other day. I used the Guidelines 2 set to stamp the red, white, and blue patterned background. That set makes it possible for anyone (and I mean ANYONE) to stamp a background! It is so easy to use!

I also used Everyday Button Bits for the sentiment. That set is just awesome!

I think those buttons for the balloons are so cute!

Thanks for Looking!

Snowpeople

Well I must say, you would be hard pressed to find a winter or Christmas card on my blog. I just don't really make many cards with winter themes. But I happen to find a sentiment stamp about "snow people", so there you have it.

I decided to participate in 2 challenges: ABC Challenge where "D is Die Cuts" and Caardvarks DRS Designs Sketch challenge. If you have never shopped at the DRS Designs website, you must check it out - It is absolutely AWESOME! Though I have not purchased anything from them yet... I have added a link in my "Favorite Places to Shop". So if you get a chance, go on over there and browse a bit.

Ok, back to business... Here is Sketch #2 from Heidi Van Laar for the Caardvarks challenge:

And here is my take:

I just love these colors together - the blue with the white and black, and the touch or red in the ribbon and the sentiment. I just might have to make more winter cards with this color scheme!

Ok , so the engineer in me says that if D is for Die Cuts, then technically I should be using a die to make the shapes. But I decided to use my Cricut machine and opted for electronic cuts instead.

I made 2 snowflake borders with the Cricut Doodlecharms cartridge. Then I layered them so that the snowflakes were staggered, and I raised the top layer for some dimension.

The snowman was also cut with Doodlecharms. I added some red grosgrain ribbon with a button, secured with some brown hemp cord.

Finally I cut the scalloped squares for the sentiment using the Nestabilities Labels dies (had to get a die cut in there somewhere). I added a strip of gems at the bottom and some gems in the snowflakes for some sparkle.

Thanks for Looking!

Raspberry Suite #16

Today at work, a co-worker asked if I had a card we could give to another co-worker who is leaving the company. I didn't have one that seemed appropriate, so I decided to make one tonight. As I was trying to figure out what to do for the card, I realized that Dawn McVey posted a new Raspberry Suite color challenge.

Here are the colors:

These colors were perfect for the card I needed. Here is what I came up with:

I stamped the background clear ink, and then I heat embossed with clear embossing powder. That created a nice shiny pattern.

I used a Fiskars punch for the border.

As usual, I fought and fought with the bow but I think it turned out ok. I secured it with a button from my stash.

The sentiment was from a stamp I found in the clearance bin at our local craft store. You can never have too many generic sentiment stamps ;-)

Thanks for Looking!

2 cards today

Hi Everyone! I have 2 cards today - it was a late night! I decided to try out the Mojo Monday challenge this week - this will be my first time participating in that. The challenge over at the Cuttlebug Spot is "Celebrate Education", and they are offering a fantastic prize this week from Custom Crops (one of my favorite stores!) In addition, KatzDesignz is offering an awesome prize over on her blog - please head over there to check it out!

Here is the sketch for Mojo Monday:

And here is my submission for Cuttlebug Spots and Mojo Monday:

I have had this DCWV Grade School paper pack forever, but this is the first time I have used it. The colors are so vibrant!

I embossed the striped paper with the Cuttlebug Argyle folder.

I used the Cricut Locker Talk cartridge for all of little school cuts.

The sentiment is from a stamp I found in the $1 bin at Pat Catans.

Here is the second card which is just for Mojo Monday:

I haven't made anything purple in awhile - so I decided to make up for that! This sentiment is so funny - I printed it out my computer.

I embossed the background with the Cuttlebug Swirls folder.

I used Nestabilities to cut out the sentiment and the frame for the cake.

I had a lot of fun decorating that cake with stickles and little gems. The cake is from the Cricut Celebrations cartridge.

Thanks for Looking!

5 challenges with 1 card

Well this is going to be my first time participating in the challenge over at Pile It On. For those of you who don't know, Pile It On is a challenge blog where the objective is to incorporate as many challenges as you can with the Pile It On challenge - sounds fun!

Here is my card:

Challenges included:
Pile it On: Use circles or dots
Whimsy Challenges: Touch of Sparkle
Card Patterns: Sketch #16
Allsorts Challenge: No stamped images or sentiments (digital is allowed)
ABC Challenge: C is for circles

I actually found this sentiment
on a little plaque in a specialty shop, and I have been waiting for an opportunity to use it - it just cracks me up!

The little girl image was cut using the Cricut Paper Dolls Dress Up Cartridge. I stamped her face with a Peachy Keen Stamp.

The scalloped circles were cut with the Mini Monograms cartridge. I mounted
the little girl and the frame with some foam stickers for added dimension. And of course I added lots of bling and ribbon!

Thanks for looking!

Colour Create 26

Hi Everyone! Woo hoo it's Colour Create time! This is my second challenge as part of the design team, and I just wanted to thank all of you for all of your lovely comments during the last challenge! You are all so kind - thank you so much for the very warm welcome!

For Challenge #26,the color scheme is ruby, gold, and cream, and the extra option is gems. There is an awesome prize from Simon Says Stamp - check out their site - they have absolutely everything! You can details about the prize at Colour Create.

Anyway, here is the inspiration photo:

Isn't that ring magnificent? It just looks so regal to me! So as I was thinking about the card for this challenge, I just kept thinking of royalty and jewels. I also happened to need an anniversary card.

So, this is what I came up with:

For the card base, I used a patterned cardstock from K&Company. It had a red and cream pattern on it, and I thought it would be so perfect for this card. Then I promptly covered it with ruby colored cardstock and then the cream cardstock - ha ha!

I embossed the cream cardstock with the Cuttlebug Textile Texture embossing folder. But before I embossed it, I inked the embossing folder with gold pigment ink. After I embossed the cardstock, I added some sparkly embossing powder and heat set. That is a really neat effect that makes rally nice backgrounds. I am hoping you can see that detail in the close-up picture.

I printed the sentiment on my computer. The sentiment and the frames were cut using the Nestabilities Large Deckled Rectangles.

I crocheted the flower using a pattern from Nichole Heady. I have used that pattern many many times now - it is great for beginning crocheters like me! I added some cream ribbon and secured the flower to the ribbon with a button. Finally I added some ruby colored jewel strips.

That's all for today. If you get a chance, check out the other Design Team Members creations - they are all gorgeous!

Thanks for stopping by!

myStampBOX Challenge with a Bit of *Sparkle*

Ok - brace yourselves - this is a loooooong post! First off, Caardvarks is hosting a great challenge sponsored by myStampBOX. The challenge is to use the myStampBOX logo colors: Black, White, and Hot Pink!

In addition, the Whimsy Stamps challenge this week is to add a touch of sparkle to your creations. Finally 365Cards theme for Day 178 is "Back to School".

I decided that I would take this opportunity to make some little cards for my daughter to tuck into her backpack as a little surprise - she goes back to school at the end of this week. She loves pink and bling, so this was perfect!

I made four small cards - they are each 3.75" x 4.75". Here is a picture of all 4 cards:

For this first card, I cut the butterfly using the Slice machine with the Teen Chillin' card. I embossed the lighter pink paper with the Cuttlebug Stylized Flowers folder.

I stamped the sentiment and then heat set it with silver embossing powder. Actually I used that same technique with the stamps on all 4 cards. Then I used the Martha Stewart border punch on the pink cardstock at the bottom.

I added gems to the butterfly and also just above the sentiment.

For the second card, I used some DCWV black cardstock that had sparkly dotted stripes all over it.

I cut the sentiment with a Nestabilities die.

I love Prima flowers, and thought this one looked perfect in the top corner, secured with a black brad.

For the 3rd card, I used black Core'dinations paper that had a pink core. I embossed it, then sanded lightly to bring out the pink core.

Again, I used a Nestabilities die on the sentiment.

In the bottom corner, I added some shiny silver bling.

The last card is my favorite! I love the "Girly Girl University" sentiment. And the pink patterned paper is sparkly all over.

I added the strip of black rhinestones for the final touch.

My daughter will be super excited when she opens her back pack and finds a little note each day for the first few days!

Thanks for Looking!
